Once More With (My) Style

Posted by Colleen on Jan 9, 2010 in Amanda "Pookie" C., Picture Post, Weekend

This one is more along the lines of how I would style it verses yesterday’s picture of how the hairdresser styled it.  I had asked her for “around the shoulders with layers” and she put her own flair in it.  I was on and off about it last night to be honest but I love it now that I have control of it.

Okay now back to trying on dresses for Hawaii in 19 DAYS while cleaning and dancing around to Lady Gaga (STFU Amanda my pookie).

A Weekend Full of Sorry!

Posted by Colleen on Aug 30, 2009 in Clif Armstrong, Jay Glatfelter, Weekend

Sadly, the weekend is over but at this time next week, Sara & TJ will be married!  Woo-hoo.  We’ll be heading back to NY next Fri morning - Monday morning.  Wedding is at Marist College on September 5.

Yesterday, I spend a decent amount of the day in the pool with Jay because it was a gazillion degrees and sunny outside (I’m not complaining, I love it).  Afterwards, we went out to dinner with Clif at Champps at the Southpoint Mall in Durham.  We walked around the mall a little afterwards, since we went to dinner at literally 4:45pm - whatever we were hungry.

While at the mall, we went into Spencer’s and saw what we’re calling our new ChuckCast t-shirts:

five_dollar_footlong

You know, just to show support for Subway, the sponsors of Chuck.  It’s one of those buy-but-never-wear-out-of-the-house-shirts.  Or is it?

So Friday night, Jay got called into work at the very last minute.  We were already on our way to dinner so I just kinda went right along with him and we ended up playing the game Sorry! for quite some time.  Now I’m sorta obsessed with it.  I need a life but games of chance like that are the best because they’re the only games I can beat Jay at.  Clif’s been suckered into our weekend-long Sorry! tournament.  It’s seriously been sorta…disturbing…how much time we’ve spent playing that game this weekend and how into it we get.

And finally, I had a headache today so I slept for a while during the day then we finished up the weekend with some Hibachi food to celebrate Jay’s sister Heather’s birthday.  <3 hibachi.

A Nice Calm Little Saturday Before the Storm

Posted by Colleen on Jul 18, 2009 in Jay Glatfelter, Picture Post, Sara Arden, Weekend

Today was the first weekend since the beginning of June that neither I didn’t have anything to do.  It was fabulous. I wish the weather could have been a little more sunny so I could have gotten some rays by the pool, but tomorrow will be nice.  Jay & I ran errands for most of the day.  I finally picked up my bridesmaid dress (picture below) for Sara & TJ’s wedding on September 5th and then did some more scrapbook shopping and clothes shopping for Comic Con.  After we got home, we got stuck watching that MTV show 16 and Pregnant or whatever it’s called.  Jay’s seen it before, but this was the first time I saw it.  And when I say “stuck” I mean “watched three episodes in a row because it was that damn addicting.”  Has anyone else ever seen that show/know what I’m talking about?

Ohhh and I also had my first ever milkshake from Chick-Fil-A today (still never eaten there though).  It was just as swell an experience as I thought it’d be.

So here’s my bridesmaid dress:

And did you guys know that they have vagina models at the Gap?

And for posterity, I’m including the picture I put up on Twitter last night, reasons 1-799 why Jay needs a haircut before we leave for San Diego on Tuesday.

Jay’s 24th Birthday Weekend

Posted by Colleen on Apr 1, 2009 in Clif Armstrong, Good times, Jay Glatfelter, NC Adventures, Weekend, nuDia.tv

So this weekend was Jay’s Birthday Weekend.  He turned 24 on Friday, March 27.  Side note: Sunday the 29th was my sister Christie’s 20th birthday.  I don’t think she reads this but if she is, Happy Birthday!!!

Anyways, I after scouting out many local restaurants for us to try, I decided to just do the biggest deal of them all: attempt to cook dinner myself.  I’m a really impatient person when it comes to cooking, so I’ve never really tried to cook before other than my Valentines’ Day 2008 trip to NC to surprise Jay and cook pasta.  That doesn’t really count though because my mom helped me prepare most of it before I left & all I had to do was the pasta part, which even I can do.  So I decided to start small and I made us bacon cheeseburgers:

jay_birthday_dinner

Yeah, it may not look super fancy, but whatever; it tasted good if I do say so myself.  I even went all out and baked a funfetti cake, too.  Holler.

jay_bday_cake

Hell yeah the candles spell out “24″.  Cause I’m that creative.  Jay’s sister Heather came to hang out for a little while when we did birthday cake, which was fun.  Since it was pouring outside on Friday, we decided to go see the movie, “I Love You Man”.  My verdict?  I really liked it and I laughed at least every few minutes.  Maybe it wasn’t the best movie from that whole “Apatow Gang” but in all fairness, it’s going to be really hard to beat “40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” (my personal favorites).

On Saturday, we went out to dinner with Jay’s family at an awesome Italian restaurant in Raleigh.  Afterwards, we went up to the mall because Jay wanted to buy new sunglasses with some of his birthday money.  I got carded upon entering the mall by myself (I went in to use the bathroom while Jay parked).  Turns out, if you’re under 18, you’re not allowed to be in the mall unaccompanied by an adult past 5pm.  No one asked Jay to see his ID.  Ha, and I’m the older one in the relationship.  After the new Oakleys were acquired, we hit Sam’s Club to buy “real Mexican” Coca Cola.  The night was finished out by an exciting viewing of “Mary Poppins,” which was choosen by the birthday boy.

Sunday we hit up the flea market because it was finally not raining.  In fact, it was gorgeous outside.  Two hotdogs each later, we went back home to do work - Jay on the “Lost Podcast” and me on my nuDia.tv show that I was going to re-film (the first time wasn’t very good, to be honest) while Jay & Jack recorded the podcast for Monday.  After a delicious dinner cooked by Jay’s mom, I headed over to Clif’s studio to film.  Jay & I took one car over to his parents’ house, so I waited around while Jay & Jack filmed their “Lost Vidcast” for this week (”Missing Jack”) and while Jack filmed his “Jack’s Rants” segment:

Aww, look at Clif hard at work!  Okay, it’s a day of the week that ends with “y” the job search continues in 5…4…3…2…1…

Aladdin + Margaritas…Okay, No Blame Falls on the Margaritas

Posted by Colleen on Mar 9, 2009 in Clif Armstrong, Friends, Good times, Movies, Sing along, Video, Weekend

It’s been a very, very long and busy week since I officially moved in to my apartment here in Raleigh, NC.  My days (literally) consist of this:  Applying for jobs, hunting for furniture and general apartment stuff, unpacking/setting stuff up, and trying to get un-lost from the places I’m trying to find.  I have a video that I am working on that’s from the actual move-in and morning after, but I’ve just been too busy to actually sit down and really put it together.

However, yesterday (March 8 ) was our friend Clif’s 28th birthday.  Jay & I had him over for hamburgers and margaritas (since honestly, margaritas are the only thing that we can really make).  Friday night (March 6), we went to see “Watchmen” - which I thought was good but very long.  I think that my best assessment of the movie is that it must be to Watchmen/comic book fans what the Lord of the Rings trilogy was to the rest of us Tolkien fans/geeks.  It was way graphic, even for me, but I liked it a lot anyways.  Saturday (March 7) was my sister Katelyn’s 22nd birthday :)  I went to garage sales from 7am til 10am, when I met up with Sara, her mom, and sister.  Her sister and I tried on our bridesmaid dresses for Sara & TJ’s wedding on September 5.  Afterwards, I resumed the cheap furniture hunt (I REALLY freaking need a kitchen table), visited Jay at work, then went for a looooooong ass walk in the 80-degree Raleigh weather.

But more about all of that later.  Maybe even a bridesmaid dress picture if I feel like it.

So last night, we had Clif come over for burgers and margaritas to celebrate his 28th birthday.

clif_birthday1 clif_birthday2

The king of making margaritas                                    Clif’s birthday drink!

We watched the end of Back to the Future on TV, then Jay & Clif played some video games.  After that got old quickly, we were looking for a movie to put on and since Jay hasn’t brought over many of his DVDs yet, it was up to yours truly’s collection of such classics like America’s Sweethearts, Mean Girls, Now and Then, and The Notebook.  Even classics like High Fidelity, Anchorman, Dogma and That Thing You Do were vetoed.  So finally, Clif just went, “I want to watch Aladdin!”

So we did.  And it’s amazing just how much an almost-24-year-old, a 25-year-old, and a 28-year-old can still recite an entire Disney movie.  We even still remembered (almost) all the lyrics of the songs.

UPDATE: YouTube and the evil that is a music group I shall not name in case of search engine hits have silenced my previous video because apparently playing a 30-second clip of only music from a song is a violation of copyright laws. And if you’re a douchebag and reported me to YouTube for copyright violation, then I hope that karma comes around to f*ck you in the ass so hard you can’t sit down for the next 4 years.  Cause just remember that nobody likes a tattletale, especially over 30 seconds of singing-less music.  k thnx bye! Sorry for the less than fabulous quality of this version:

And with that, I must return to the job hunt so that I can then continue with the furniture hunt.  Woot.  I’d really like it if like $1,000 just fell into my lap right now.

25th Birthday Recap

So thus far today, my packing has been this successful: I threw shit out from my desk (that I don’t even need to go through) and packed both my U.S. and British editions of Harry Potter and my Lord of the Rings books.  Yeah, this is not good lol.  I can’t really do anything outside of the house before 3:30pm each day because I’m on doggie nurse duty for Strider - 13 pills a day, including diuretics which means he has to be taken outside to go to the bathroom at least once every 1.5-2 hours.  My dad does the pills but it’s a huge ordeal because some are so large that they have to be literally shoved down his throat.  I feel badly because the dog will unintentionally bite down on his hand at least 4 times each session & this morning he drew blood.

My birthday parties were fun.  I gotta admit that on Friday, I was just totally not feeling doing anything birthday-related.  It took longer to pick Strider up from the doggie cardiologist than I thought it would and I missed the train into Manhattan, so I just drove in to Astoria and took the subway to Hi-Fi to meet up with the BTR crew.  Annie made me FUNFETTI CUPCAKES, which I think I had 4 of.  It was fun and nice to see everyone who could make it.

Also on Friday, I had a surprise.  Jay couldn’t make it this weekend and knew how disappointed I was so he sent me beautiful flowers to make up for it :)  Aren’t they purdy?

Birthday Flowers from Jay

So, Saturday was the big party at Stout in Herald’s Square.  I didn’t end up going to New York Comic Con because I was just drained from the previous 2 days and needed to try to chill before the all-nighter.  Katelyn and her friends Kelly & Eddie came in with me at 7pm so we could get a lot of seats for everyone at the bar.

Everyone tricked in from around 7:30pm-10:30pm.  I was so excited to see everyone and even more excited to accept multiple birthday drinks.  In fact, at around 12:50am, Randy & Claudio got me a double shot of Tequlia and for some reason, I then thought that it would be a good idea for Katelyn & Eddie to take the last “early” train home at 1:12am without me and I’d just take one at like 3am and get a cab for the 25 minute ride back.  Yeah, I don’t know either.  Sooooo around 1:30am, I wanted to go home and was “stuck.”  So what did I do?  My grandparents were staying at the Marriott Downtown for a conference that night & I decided to go drunkely visit them.  Then I slept over in their hotel room.  Yeah.  Don’t even say a word.

We did a family party yesterday but it was quieter.  My mom’s been sick the last few days and we wanted to keep it low-key so the dog didn’t have a heart attack, but it was cool. Still lots of good food.  My aunt & uncle told me that I should enjoy 25 because everything beyond is just “early 30.”

So yeah, that’s my birthday story.  Also, I know that this could come across wrong, but I’m just sorta “woah” to have seen this:

29 in iTunes

In 2 years podcasting, I’ve never ever been on any iTunes featured list or top something.  It’s in the Audio Podcast list of the TV/Film category. Jay & I started the ChuckCast as a joke but then decided we liked doing because it took a total of 1 hour a week with recording and editing (knock on wood) and seemed like fun we should keep having! :)  I’m actually not going to look at any reviews because I remember the last time that I did something that was more in Jay’s “territory” and 75% of the people who commented hated me.  I wasn’t trying to come off poorly but damnit that sucked hardcore and I’d rather just say “screw it” and be kept in the dark this time.

Anyways, I have a bunch of pictures from my birthday party, but I’m putting them after the jump because there are quite a few (I’ll put more up on Facebook when I feel like it).  My camera’s crazy ass flash makes me look like I haven’t been out in sunlight in 3 years and I also look drunk basically from an hour in (I think it was more like 2.5 hours in though…).  I’m also aware I’m in desperate need of a haircut & am getting on on Friday.  Much thanks to everyone who came out and who left me messages on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, message boards, etc.

My First California Christmas Experience

Posted by Colleen on Dec 22, 2008 in Adventure, Family, Good times, Jay Glatfelter, Picture Post, Video, Weekend
California last weekend with Jay’s family ROCKED. Seriously, I had such an awesome time. We flew in on Saturday morning, with our connecting Southwest flights meeting up in Vegas and then flying to Burbank (I had no delays getting in to Las Vegas but Jay did; we then had a bit of a delay leaving Vegas because of snow in Utah I think, but it was way better being delayed with someone!)

Anyways, here’s some pictures from that weekend, with captions. There’s also a video in here of Jay playing guitar off-the-cuff in the kitchen while no one was paying attention. I noticed he was and grabbed my camera to pretend to take a picture and recorded some of it before he realized what I was doing & we had to go eat or whatever it was. Enjoy some of our lame pictures from our very fun Christmas #1!

Video First:

Now the photo album:

We drink when we are delayed in airports, no matter what time of day it is.

The start of the (literally) 24-hour long game of Risk that Jay & his family played!

Taking a break to text/look at pictures. We’re so technologically dependent.

Naturally, we had to take a picture of the game before we went to bed that night to make sure no one cheated over night! Jay is green.

My first time ever playing Wii bowling.

All tuckered out from my 10 minutes of Wii Bowling (plus it was like 9pm NY time…)

We played in Claire’s Accessories during a quick mall-trip on Sunday, 12/14. Sylar - I mean Jay - wants glasses for some reason…

I found the pickle hidden in the Christmas tree & went to claim my prize! (Okay, maaaaaybe I had a tad bit of help from Aunt Mary & Uncle Brett…)

All set for take-off from Burbank to JFK and wearing my headband because it hurt my head when I tried to sleep :)

God, we LOVE JetBlue…

My Macbook Does Cool Things

Posted by Colleen on Dec 7, 2008 in Train Tales, Video, Weekend
Sooooo I found out that not only do I have this awesomely clear quality internal webcam built into my brand new Macbook, but I can actually record things using this webcam and (naturally) post them to the Internet!
…Which is, duh, exactly what I attempted to do just now.  Forgive my tired, dirty looking appearance - I actually did shower this morning, but my 2 hour nap mid-day kinda ruined that I guess.  So for all you fanboys and girls out there (ahem Paul Rudd, I’m talking to you!) who have always wondered what I look like when I’m at my hottest, here’s your chance.  :P

Christmas in October

It’s time for a happier post about my weekend, one that doesn’t involve airplanes. So this weekend, I had a completely work-free weekend for once. We went to 5 Guys with Clif (as per usual), then we were going to go see “Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist” but the time was listed wrong online, so instead, we went back to Jay’s house and watched “Casino Royale,” since I’ve never seen it. I love action movies like that, so I really liked it a lot. Jay & I actually each bought the book of short stories that makes up “Quantum of Solace” to read on Sunday.

After breakfast on Sunday (Jay’s dad cooks brunch every Sunday morning & it’s so good), we did some errands and what not. Then, we went to dinner and to again attempt to see the movie. As we were finishing dinner, I got a text message from Chris in Boston, telling me that MetroBuzz got nominated for a Podcast Award for Best Comedy!!!! I’m actually really, really excited about it. Last year, when I went to California with Jay to watch him accept the award for Best Entertainment podcast, I never ever thought that we’d get nominated. I was incredibly giddy after finding this out, so naturally, a celebration was called for. Since we had already paid the bill, we decided to just go up to the bar in the restaurant and do straight vodka shots. 10 minutes later, two semi-drunk award-nominated podcasters walked into a movie theatre. We then proceeded to giggle our way through the entire first half. We had gotten popcorn and I placed it on the arm of the chair next to me. Jay for some reason decided to lift up the arm and popcorn flew everywhere, which prompted more obnoxious giggling from us, but there were like 5 other people in the theatre and we were in the back row. So whatev. (Btw, the movie was pretty good - having spent a year as an outsider in the indie music world, it was actually quite believable to me and made me really miss living in NYC even more than I already do.)

We went to the mall on Saturday, October 18. Tell me what’s wrong with this picture:

Alright, gotta peace out - Time to go back to Job#2 work before I head to Job#1. I didn’t say it before, but thank you so much to anyone who is reading this who helped nominate us for a Podcast Award. I’m really so excited. I’m going to be bugging everyone to vote for us, starting Thursday, October 23, 2008. You can vote once every 24 hours and I’d really appreciate it if you could do it. Just go to podcastawards.com and vote MetroBuzz in the Best Comedy category and vote for Jay’s podcast, The Lost Podcast with Jay & Jack in the Best Entertainment category.

Finally, I’ll leave you with another cheesy kitten video. I took this at literally 5:15am, so if I look exhausted, it’s because I was. But I’ve already gots a boy and he was there while I filmed it, so again, whatev son! Okay, I really need to do work now :P
