Ramble/Ponder/Rant,
Wedding stuff
Open post day!
I feel ‘meh’ and people on Twitter keep saying they agree with me so let’s all commiserate together and therefore make ourselves feel better. I’ll go first:
Wedding planning blows and there’s way too much drama surrounding finding a place and setting a date and whether or not I can actually invite more than 3 damn friends.
Your turn! Group therapy.

Sometimes the worst part about having a blog that everyone can see is that you can’t really just take the liberty to say how you really feel about someone or something because it’s not something you can ever say out loud to them in real life or all hell would break loose.
Just sayin’.
More Hawaii posts in a little while.

So Jay & Clif left today for Hawaii. They met up with Jack & Jay’s mom in LA(coughspacecough)X and everyone just set sail (flight) for Honolulu Airport. They won’t land until 3:45am EST but that’s okay because I have to wait until midnight EST to record ChuckCast with special guest host Ralph!
Anyways. I already am almost packed for Hawaii even though I have to work so I don’t get to go until Thursday. All that’s left to pack are my jacket, some bras, and my sneakers. Then I am good to go! I even sent Jay with all my toiletries, like mousse, a toothbrush, and contact solution. I wasn’t playing around. I’m prepared this time. Only 4 pairs of shoes: flats, sandals, sneakers, and dress scandals. Again, I mean business.
It’s been one of those really stressful weeks, starting last Wednesday. However, I swam a mile today for the first time! When I started swimming on November 1, I wasn’t very strong and barely made it to a quarter of a mile but I had a goal to swim one mile by the time I went to Hawaii and tonight, I finally did it! I’m very proud of myself and even had a beer to celebrate (we gave up beer for the month of January in order to try to lose weight for Hawaii).
Ahh, that’s it for now. More later and from Hawaii later this week.
Also, I want this:

I bought this shirt to maybe wear in Hawaii at some point. I haven’t actually tried it on yet, as I got it online so fingers crossed. This is the first time I have ever shopped for clothes over the Internet but my sister does & it works out super well for her so hey why not? They had the size smaller than me at Express but it was way too small and the size bigger than me…well, let’s just say there was a wee bit extra room in the breast area. Hopefully what I ordered is juuusssttt right.
But yes, so here it is:

Halloween was a bit of a letdown in terms of Trick or Treaters. We had none! Despite all of our excitement - including our jack-o-lantern sitting lit outside the door - no one came by asking for candy. I was really disappointed, actually, because we bought a lot of candy and we had lots of fun things to hand out and I was really looking forward to it. We went outside several times to look out at the apartment complex and see if we could entice anyone to come our way, but nada. I don’t get it! It was a Saturday too! Don’t kids want to get free candy anymore?!
That out of the way, we found that dressing up ourselves was too expensive but I did manage to get Zoe into costume for about 45 seconds:

The hat came off about 15 seconds after the picture was taken. Then she ran off to hide and later on, I found the bandana in my closet, stuffed into my shoe. I think she looks adorable. And Strider was always some form of a cowboy for Halloween, so it was my own little tribute <3 because I still miss the hell out of that dog
So we started off Halloween by joining a gym. This was fueled by several things. First, when clocks move back in the U.S. (today), then it gets dark by 5:30pm. I’d pick working out outside any day of the week, but I effing HATE the cold and don’t feel safe running or walking outside in the dark. Also, I’ve seen this season’s NuNews. I used to do some form of physical exercise (usually running) a good 5-6 days a week. I haven’t in a year. All you have to do is compare the thumbnails from the summer and now (but please don’t lol) and there’s a change. Yeah, I’m not “fat” but I’m not in shape and I used to be so I’d like to get back in shape. Yeah, I Tweeted 2 months ago that according to the scale at my doctor’s office, I’ve gained 7lbs since June, but since everything fit, I didn’t really care. But the “wake-up call” was right before we filmed this week’s NuNews. I bought new jeans 3 weeks ago and they fit fine and then when I put them and an orange shirt on (for Halloween), it looked awful. Even Jay (very kindly and gently) acknowledged that I needed to change. So I acted like the melodramatic girl I am & cried on the floor of my closet for a couple minutes before putting on the black dress that I am wearing in the video. The best part of this story is that I was going to wear the black dress from the start but changed my mind last minute and could have probably avoided all the crying-before-filming by not being so indecisive. Anyway, I know I’m not “fat” so please don’t leave a comment reassuring me that I’m not. I’d just like to get back into shape. That’s all.
Anyway, we didn’t end up going out last night despite having plans to do so and this was because we were having the best time drinking at home and watching this marathon of “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” on TLC (thank you “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ for self-imploding and allowing other shows to have some air play). Then once the game got started, we realized we were having enough fun together to not go out in the rain. Ah well, next year I’m totally going to plan a party for Halloween and invite people over with mandatory costumes.
Finally, here’s our jack-o-lantern on display last night. We thought it’d entice the kiddies, but we never even heard any come around. The last one was taken about an hour ago after I successfully didn’t burn the apartment down by baking pumpkin seeds. They’re pretty frickin’ good if I do say so myself.

Yeah, it’s 11:11pm on 9/9/09 so what better to do than a quick blog post?
Today was sad at work. One of my bosses, Heather, resigned. She’s probably one of the most awesome people ever, so it was a somber day at work. But when I got home, Jay had made me French Dip and bought me a present to cheer me up! Here’s my present:

It’s the new Vera Bradley color (Carnaby) and bag (the Stephanie). I’ve been looking at it for a good month so yay! I have the best man ever.
While I watched “Glee” (awesome.), Jay went over to record the new Flash Forward ‘Cast with Jack. It was so adorable before he left because Zoe sat on his leg and hugged it, like she didn’t want him to leave haha. Yeah, I know. I’m a dork x 1,000.

Sara & TJ’s wedding was kick ass. I’ve put up a gazillion pictures on Facebook and still have one more album left, but I’ll have to pick a few of my favorite ones and put them up on here this weekend for all you people with lives who don’t want to shift through 200 pictures of someone else’s wedding just to see two people that you know. So stay tuned.
Finally, we’ve got a whoooole bunch of things planned for Nudia.tv that I/we won’t announce until after our meeting on Saturday BUT I have a crapload of buttons leftover from Comic Con and I’d love to send them out to whoever wants one. Sooo send me a direct message on Twitter (www.twitter.com/Colleen84) or on Facebook or an email to YuBlog.org@gmail.com or heck, if you’re not shy about broadcasting where you live in the comments on here, then go for it. I’m compiling a list through this weekend and buying a large book of stamps and envelopes to ship ‘em out. Woot.

Okay bed. Go 9/9/09!

Ramble/Ponder/Rant,
Reflecting/emo
Because I’m human, every so often, I do get down and out that I’m currently doing nothing career-wise in relation to what I have a degree (or 2 or 3) in (Journalism, P.R., English, Theatre…take your pick…). And then, like a melodramatic 25-year-old with friends who actually do what they have degrees in, I do get a little bit sad and/or upset as to why I don’t really do anything career-wise of the sort and chances seem slim that I ever will, even though every thing I’ve done since college has been a conscious decision made. And I like where I am now regardless. Emo. Emo. Emo. Emo. Alert!
Then I see something like this and I feel better about myself:

The article is about Melanie Griffin checking into rehab for the 3rd time in like 8 years and who cares blah blah blah blah blah she probably just wants attention or something for making it public since no one really bothers to follow that bitch around anymore any way so it’s not like she couldn’t go to rehab and keep it a secret. Anyway. Catch the mistake yet?
Ha. Ha. And whoever wrote this has a degree like I do.
Hire me, yo. At least I know how to tell genders apart.

Dear Facebook,
First, we accepted the “new” Facebook. Then we dealt with the blantant rip-off of Twitter, which in my opinion GREATLY decreased the value and fun of the site. Now you’re adding the option of USER NAMES? WTF? Are you that afraid of being irrelevant? Well, here’s some news for ya: At least Twitter is the “it” thing of 2009. MySpace is SO 2004-2007. It’s not that I’m against change. But seriously, get some new ideas that are awesome instead of stealing the things that are unique to every other site. You’re just making us frustrated. You’re not making us respect you at all.
Thanks,
Colleen

This is pretty awesome: http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/04/30/save.chuck.show/index.html
but this link within the article is even more surreal: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-251471
I’ve had a lot of really cool things happen to me since I started podcasting but this has to take the cake. I submitted that dorky vidcast to CNN.com’s iReporter site on a whim as we were on our way out to Wal-Mart on Tuesday and look what happened! Sick nasty.

Jay Glatfelter,
Ramble/Ponder/Rant
Okay so here’s what happened to me and Jay at church this afternoon (it’s Good Friday) :
Mass was about an hour and 25 minutes long. We were sitting in the very back next to a younger couple with their son, who was about 2 years old. The kid was adorable. Though about 35 minutes into the mass, there was a terrible smell. I turned to Jay & asked, “Was that you?!”
“No, not me. I think that little kid shit his pants,” Jay responded.
Yeah, it definitely smelled like that.
So about 5 or 6 minutes go by and then the kid starts to sing. Loudly. Finally, to the gratitude of all of our senses of smell, the little boy’s father picks him up and takes him outside. Whew.
Well, the father returns about 6-8 minutes later without the little boy. I turn to Jay & I ask him, “Where’s the kid?!
So about 10 minutes later, the father whispers something to his wife and leaves. My question to all of you creative, imaginative people out there:
Where the heck was the kid?! He was literally 2 years old and he had just crapped his pants and was taken outside as he was singing, so it’s not as though he fell asleep during church! We joked that he was “disposed of” for messing up, but what can you come up with?!
P.S. I am just got home to NY til Sunday for Easter. I dropped a pretzel on the floor before and said to myself, “Oh damnit! I have to pick that up before the dog gets it!” Then I realized that I don’t have a dog anymore and well, it was a sad moment. The end.
