Jay and I got iPads on Friday!! Thanks to the very generous Jim for sending them to us as wedding presents. We truly cannot thank you enough, Jim. This was truly one of the nicest, sweetest, and most awesome things that anyone has ever done for us. Thank you, you totally rock dude!
The reason I’m finally now making this post now, on Sunday night, is because I’ve been completely distracted by trying to figure out the iPad. It’s awesome, by the way. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Jay’s had his iPad set up planned since it was announced that they existed, haha. I’m fairly certain that within 20 minutes of opening them, Jay had his completely set up. I downloaded a bunch of apps, but I really need some suggestions on which apps I should try out. Definitely leave me your recommendations in the comments section if you feel like it! Right now, I have the iBooks, the Kindle, Solitaire, FreeCell, Weather Channel, Netflix, USA Today, Jumbo Calculator, Craigslist Pro, a really cool one called Color Splash, ABC Player, Betty Crocker Cookbook, GTalk, Wikipanion, Huffington Post, Twitterrific, and Pandora. So basically, I have a rundown of all of the top apps that appear on the main page of the Apple Apps Store, lol.
I feel as though this is a callback to when I first got my iPod for Christmas 2005 and I spent January 2006 discovering PODCASTS! We all know how that little discovery ended up. This is cool, it’s like I’m exploring new territory all over again. Again, suggestions welcome
Of course, it wouldn’t be a blog post by yours truly if I didn’t have a zillion cheesy pictures documenting everything. So here goes:
As Jay pulls out the card, Zoe eyes her newest potential addition to the box-fort Jay made her.
His and hers, yo.
YAY!
And in the aftermath, a lonely kitty searches for something to play in, knowing she’s going to be ignored for the next two days…

Hey Colleen! You will love your iPad. I’ve had mine for a few weeks and it’s great! So convenient and fun! I have most of the apps you have, and I also have Words With Friends HD…the board looks great on the iPad. I think my iPhone is so small now! Lol
Enjoy!
I don’t have a iPad but I do have a iPod Touch and have way too many apps on it. These are some of my favourite apps that I would recommend: Plants Vs Zombies, Angry Bird, Doodle Jump, Ninjatown: Trees of Doom, Settlers of Catan & Carcassonne.
Browse around the free section a bit too because I didn’t like my credit card bill when I first went app crazy.
Echofon is a much better Twitter app than Twitterrific. If it’s even available for iPad yet. That’s the one I use for iPhone at least.
@Misty – I keep hearing everyone talk about Words with Friends. I guess I’ll have to give it a try.
@Davidd – I’m trying to stick with the free section. I’ve only paid for ColorSplash and Craigslist Pro. Idk why I wanted to pay for Craigslist haha but it was an impulse.
@Shaggysteve – I couldn’t find any other Twitter apps that I recognized for the iPad. Same with Facebook – it wasn’t available in the iPad format yet and the free one I downloaded was really small and I didn’t like how it was set up. I’ll check to see if Echofon is for iPad yet.
I’m using Tweet Deck for the iPad, but I heard that Twitterrific is really good on the iPad.
A really nice demo app is “The Elements”, but it is very pricey
A nice pdf read reader is “GoodReader”
Yahoo Entertainment is nice and free
Two words: Angry Birds. You will both thank me and curse me.
