While Jay was recording two back-to-back Married Man Podcasts this afternoon, Zoe and I had some bonding/naptime:

Now, she’s sitting on my back doing her best Little Mermaid impression I guess:

Jay’s jealous that she likes me better than him tonight ;)

Justify My Love Air Time

Posted by Colleen on Nov 16, 2009 in Metrobuzz, nuDia.tv

Hey just wanted to say a special thank you to Sgractuary over on iTunes for it’s very astute and classy review on the nuDia.tv iTunes page.

Oh and PS, thank you also your lovely gem about me on the iTunes page for the Jay & Jack Show.  It also meant a lot.

Haha, I wonder if people purposely write those particularly kindly worded reviews because they know that the people they’re writing about are going to see them, even if they are addressing other parties.  Are they trying to make that person feel like crap?  Is it one of those things where they are trying to “knock that person down a peg”?  Or are they really so self-important that they take the iTunes review system so seriously that they feel it’s their civic duty to make sure everyone knows just how much they think someone else sucks?  Luckily, I have been trashed enough times in the last 2.5 years - including by people who were supposed to be my friends - that I can’t really dwell on it anymore.  Sure, it may bother me when I read it, but not like it used to.  I used to be really hurt by that stuff.  Not really when it came to MetroBuzz because we got some really helpful constructive criticism that I personally felt was beneficial to us for a period of time.  But honestly, until probably July of this year, I was hurt by such reviews.  Now, I have too much else on my plate - See: a 45-hour-a-week paying job, running YuBlog.org, working on nuDia.tv (both sites take many non-at-work hours a week), managing a healthy relationship that apparently keeps me on nuDia.tv, traveling to have the proper family time, working out in order to take care of myself again, balancing a normal life, etc al.

Oh and dude, you are free to submit a show to nuDia.tv for either the “Winter Break” season that’s going to be for 6 weeks after New Years or the Spring season, starting in March.  Hopefully Jay will be in love with you enough to put you on the site too!

27 and Counting

Posted by Colleen on Nov 5, 2009 in Yankees

I’d like to express my excitement that the New York Yankees won the World Series tonight/last night, without comments from the Yankee-haters. (I can’t believe I have to preface this but) I’m a fan who came across the team honestly (my dad brought me & my sisters up as fans from birth) and I’m genuinely excited. I know that I’m lucky to root for a team that is not a “small market team.”

I wish I had been able to get back up to NY for a game in the new stadium this year.

Thanks to my little sister Christie for taking these pictures and sending them to me :)

Trick or Not Treat

Posted by Colleen on Nov 2, 2009 in Good times, Halloween, Jay Glatfelter, Picture Post, Ramble/Ponder/Rant, Zoe

Halloween was a bit of a letdown in terms of Trick or Treaters.  We had none!  Despite all of our excitement - including our jack-o-lantern sitting lit outside the door - no one came by asking for candy.  I was really disappointed, actually, because we bought a lot of candy and we had lots of fun things to hand out and I was really looking forward to it.  We went outside several times to look out at the apartment complex and see if we could entice anyone to come our way, but nada.  I don’t get it!  It was a Saturday too!  Don’t kids want to get free candy anymore?!

That out of the way, we found that dressing up ourselves was too expensive but I did manage to get Zoe into costume for about 45 seconds:

The hat came off about 15 seconds after the picture was taken.  Then she ran off to hide and later on, I found the bandana in my closet, stuffed into my shoe.  I think she looks adorable.  And Strider was always some form of a cowboy for Halloween, so it was my own little tribute <3 because I still miss the hell out of that dog :(

So we started off Halloween by joining a gym.  This was fueled by several things.  First, when clocks move back in the U.S. (today), then it gets dark by 5:30pm.  I’d pick working out outside any day of the week, but I effing HATE the cold and don’t feel safe running or walking outside in the dark.  Also, I’ve seen this season’s NuNews.  I used to do some form of physical exercise (usually running) a good 5-6 days a week.  I haven’t in a year.  All you have to do is compare the thumbnails from the summer and now (but please don’t lol) and there’s a change.  Yeah, I’m not “fat” but I’m not in shape and I used to be so I’d like to get back in shape.  Yeah, I Tweeted 2 months ago that according to the scale at my doctor’s office, I’ve gained 7lbs since June, but since everything fit, I didn’t really care. But the “wake-up call” was right before we filmed this week’s NuNews.  I bought new jeans 3 weeks ago and they fit fine and then when I put them and an orange shirt on (for Halloween), it looked awful.  Even Jay (very kindly and gently) acknowledged that I needed to change.  So I acted like the melodramatic girl I am & cried on the floor of my closet for a couple minutes before putting on the black dress that I am wearing in the video.  The best part of this story is that I was going to wear the black dress from the start but changed my mind last minute and could have probably avoided all the crying-before-filming by not being so indecisive.  Anyway, I know I’m not “fat” so please don’t leave a comment reassuring me that I’m not.  I’d just like to get back into shape.  That’s all.

Anyway, we didn’t end up going out last night despite having plans to do so and this was because we were having the best time drinking at home and watching this marathon of “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” on TLC (thank you “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ for self-imploding and allowing other shows to have some air play).  Then once the game got started, we realized we were having enough fun together to not go out in the rain.  Ah well, next year I’m totally going to plan a party for Halloween and invite people over with mandatory costumes.

Finally, here’s our jack-o-lantern on display last night.  We thought it’d entice the kiddies, but we never even heard any come around.  The last one was taken about an hour ago after I successfully didn’t burn the apartment down by baking pumpkin seeds.  They’re pretty frickin’ good if I do say so myself.
