Dear Facebook,
First, we accepted the “new” Facebook. Then we dealt with the blantant rip-off of Twitter, which in my opinion GREATLY decreased the value and fun of the site. Now you’re adding the option of USER NAMES? WTF? Are you that afraid of being irrelevant? Well, here’s some news for ya: At least Twitter is the “it” thing of 2009. MySpace is SO 2004-2007. It’s not that I’m against change. But seriously, get some new ideas that are awesome instead of stealing the things that are unique to every other site. You’re just making us frustrated. You’re not making us respect you at all.
Thanks,
Colleen
Don’t use Facebook, Tweetdeck, stopped using myspace yrs ago. At least Twitter is instant. Good updates.
Igoogle and google wave is good, just waiting for more people to test it out.
I have a love/hate relationship w/Facebook. Last month they suspended my account without warning because I was using a brand/blog name rather than my real last name…and now they’re offering the very thing I was removed for. And yet, it has been such a great marketing and interaction tool that I would have a very difficult time giving it up. So I choose to use Twitter for more frequent updates and FB to really only post links to my articles.
I know to find YOU on Twitter primarily.
Its freaking websites people, I am sure there are more atrocities being commited outside of the internet!!!!!!!!!!
No, I’m pretty sure the majority of the world’s problems revolve around the Internet.
Well I personally don’t see any issues, not enough to get worked up over anyways.
Ah, it’s all in good fun anyway
Even though I consider Facebook as being the devil, I still love and will not stop using it. Its a great way for me to be in contact with friends all around the world. When I read about this new URL thingy I thought it was a not so cool idea. Let me explain… I don’t know about the rest of the world, but at least here in Mexico there has been a lot of buzz about everything you post on FB. Last year the son of a big entrepreneur was kidnapped and killed. They said that they got all of his information from FB like pictures, telephones, where he used to hang out, etc. So many people freaked out. What I did was only to put everything private, high security, all that stuff, so that no one would see my information or profile unless I accept the request of adding me.
The URL thingy seems easier to find people, but what about some of us that don’t want to be found? Trust me I’m no millionaire or high society person that fears on being kidnapped or anything (plus I think its very unlikely that kidnappers really research people on FB). I just think that if someone really wants to be in contact with me are people that I already now or knew once upon a time, they have my email and they can look me up with just that. Maybe there’s a guy I have been avoiding, or just don’t want anyone to find me that easy.
Maybe I got off topic here, but that my point of view.
Oh and BTW I love Twitter and more and more people over here in Mexico are starting to use it. Also I’m very excited about Google Wave, sounds very cool and will definitely try it out soon!
Ok first and foremost I love Twitter!! I like the up to date status and info of my new and old friends I have met via podcasts.
I have a Facebook and have had it since way back when. It is ok but it is not my life. I kind of don’t care about connecting with school friends cause basically I only had like 5 that I could say were “friends”. So when I get requests to be my friend from people that never said two words to me in school I am like “whatever”. Most of the people I have on FB are my coworkers who I am cool with and all my podcasts peeps I adore. I have a MySpace too but I am rarely on it – maybe once a day. My acct is private and only people I allow can view it and I have never had my real name on there or MySpace. I guess to each his own. Just my half cent on the thing and supporting my girl Colleen’s blog!!!
